History

The Wishart Sharks Swim Club has a long and proud history. The idea for a club was first raised by Ian Nibloe on the 30th March 1971 at the P&C meeting of the then Mt Gravatt South State School.

But the idea of raising money to build a pool for the school had been raised a year before. It was a long struggle to convince everyone that a pool was a worthwhile idea and to gather the necessary funds. But they persevered and the pool was completed on the 31st January 1978, officially opened on the 17th March 1978 and we can't thank them enough.

The first AGM of the Mt Gravatt South State School Amateur Swimming Club was held on the 24th July 1978 and it has been running to this day, though our name changed along with the school's and we are now better known as the Wishart Sharks Swim Club.
